Counting Beads and Breaths

This 5 minute video showcases a tool I now use to keep my mind steady and calm during reactions. Grab a beaded bracelet and follow along! New videos will be released weekly so join our mailing list to be the first to know when a new video is up! Huge thank you to PowerLiving Adelaide for allowing us the use of their studio to film this video.

Mindfulness for a Eczema Flare Up

We have all had those moment, when you are so itchy it is all you can think about and it is all you can do to stop yourself from itching. Well in those moments I like to remind my self that “this to shall pass”. Find a tolerable position. Close my eyes and count the number of half cycles of breaths. For example a single inhalation of any length would be number 1. Following exhale is number 2. Inhale is 3. Exhale is 4. It is different then trying to lengthen your breath and inhale for a count of X. We are simply labeling each half of the breath with a number. Choose a stopping point like 10 or 20 where you then count down. Inhale - 20. Exhale - 19. Inhale - 18. Exhale - 17. Continue as many rounds as this as you’d like until the itching has subsided. This can be done for minor reactions as well or while you are waiting to for antihistamine to begin to work.

Body Scan Meditation Video

This video is a generalized by scan, the video ends in silence so that you can stay in a relaxed state or end your practice with us.

How to use this video? This video is great as a relaxation tool or as a guided meditation. For those of you who have anaphylasxis be a little more detailed with your awareness, noticing and sensing each area of the body. Noticing all sensations, where are the coming from, how could you describe the sensation? Dull? Sharp? Warm? exploring your body and all the sensation with a sense of genuine curiosity. Letting go of any judgement of a sensation being “good” or “bad” there just is. Allow your self to stay detached from the labels or descriptions you are putting on the sensations. Continue to allow your self to become more and more relaxed.

Enjoy! If you have any questions or would like to ‘check in’ on how you are doing with mastering this skill send us a email or book a free 20 minute consultation!
